Turkey

Meatloaf

7 am – To my absolute joy and delight (when I looked out over the balcony – above), the first snow of the season fell in Bethesda on Wednesday.  I love cold, inclement weather.  Sweaters, boots, big leather coats and jackets, a fireplace, a warm soothing beverage and a stick-to-your-ribs meal – these are a few of my favorite winter things!

10:20 am – Having already worked out on the treadmill (at 4:30 am), showered, done some banking and been to the grocery store, I decided that the first snow of the season deserved a good turkey meatloaf celebration, with a side of Savoy cabbage (now in high season) sautéed with some Cherry peppers (shown below right).

6:30 pm – The snow was still falling (above) and the whole house smelled of browning bacon and the fresh clean aroma of Savoy cabbage.  This late dinner left my stomach full, my soul oh-so-satisfied, and my spirit grateful for the daily bread the Lord always provides.
